Favorite Things

Gelato at midnight with a warm cashmere blanket, exquisite jewelry and bobbles and trinkets, tabletops dressed up with linens and bling, these are a few of my favorite things...

The Seychelles

Is a place considered a thing?  It is today.  I haven’t had a vacation since I was in Italy three years ago.  Sure I have had a weekend off here and there but a real vacation, sitting in the sun with a little umbrella in my drink…I need one of those.  I have decided it needs to be to the Seychelles.  I have seen some of the most beautiful photographs of this place and the water is so clear.  This is definitely my next vacation destination.  Check it out at www.seychelles.travel/en/home/index.php

I Want...I Want...I Want

I Want…I Want…I Want

I Want...I Want...I Want

I remember as a kid my dad used to talk with me about the difference between need and want.  Well, I certainly do not need another set of dinnerware but I want this one.  I am in the midst of working on my next feature entertaining story and I want to use these in my tabletop design but unfortunately I can’t get them fast enough for the shoot.  I found these on one of my favorite blogs (I have gone back and can’t find the blog to reference so I apologize!) but this Ombre dinnerware is from Target and is only $59.99 for a 16 piece set. You are seeing a lot of Ombre in fashion, and it would be a dramatic addition to any table. Adding flowers, or any accessory, to this Ombre dinnerware in one vibrant color would make any table sing.

Dining Room Table Wish

Dining Room Table Wish

I am on the hunt for a fabulous dining room table.  This is actually a desk, that reminds me of the table that I once lusted after and did not buy.  They always say if you fall in love with a piece you should buy it because you may never see it again. The table I fell in love with was designed with the same look but was created from one piece of glass - not a seam to be found.  It was gorgeous.

This contemporary side table comes in a variety of colors.  I love the high gloss and bright color.  They are lightweight and easy to move around.  If you like to entertain outside, a few of these grouped around chairs throughout a garden would be a great way to create a chic setting to chat throughout the night.

Spare a Square

Spare a Square

When you travel a lot you begin to find ways to pack less and less.  Who wants to tote the regular size toiletries (shampoo, shaving cream, etc.) back and forth across country?  And, I never have time to pick those items up at the drugstore when I arrive to where ever I am going.  Enter Travelon sheets.  Each square contains enough shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, and bath wash for one use.  The containers are brightly colored and fit in the palm of your hand, they take no room at all.  They are also  good to take on camping trips - if you are in to that kind of thing. ;) Check them out at Irv’s Luggage.

It’s not black, and it isn’t navy, it’s ink.  I love it as a base color with a pop of vibrant color.  I could see a wing back chair covered in this with a small bolster pillow in a bright orange, or coral.  This particular print is by John Robshaw Textiles whose mission is to create original, handcrafted textiles from around the world.  You can get this in a table linen on their site, which would be fantastic on a table for the first garden party of the season.

Inflatable HD Outdoor Screen

Inflatable HD Outdoor Screen

This is crazy!  It is an inflatable 12 ft. HD backyard theatre screen with speakers.  It is front and rear projection capable, and the screen is even trimmed in black to give it that true cinema style picture.  I am not usually the girl that goes crazy over gadgets, but this is one gadget I want for my backyard this summer for those late night outdoor movie nights with friends.

I am known for wearing big cocktail rings.  I collect them, and when I am not wearing one I feel naked.  I talk with my hands a lot, and since they are usually front and center when I am showing product on television I decided that my hands had to express my personality.  I found this whimsical Juicy spring ring while I was at Nordstrom.  I love to throw it on with my bright yellow spring topper - on the rainiest of days it reminds me that spring is here.    Jackie O had her glasses, and Katherine Hepburn had her classic white shirt and wide leg pants.  Do you have something that you wear frequently that makes a statement?  If you don’t, why not create one?

Another New York Find

Another New York Find

Another Soho find.  As I was walking I stopped by Lumas and was drawn in by the images in the window.  Lumas was created with the hope of making the art market more accessible for a new generation of collectors focused on art photography.  They offer selected works by artists as hand-signed original photographs, these editions normally range from 75 to 150 prints, and a selection are available in full wall sizes.  Ask about their silicon mounting…it allows the photograph to be seen without competing with the frame.  This photograph is saturated in color, two of which I love right now, red (always) and cobalt blue.  The blue dress off set by the blue mirror ball on the other side of the sofa and the city backdrop, forget about it!

A Pop of Spring

A Pop of Spring

I love these pots! I am a busy gal, so watering plants is something I seem to always forget to do, but I believe in having some living element other than my friends and family in the house. Grobal pots to the rescue. These pretty pops of color are the perfect solution because they come with everything to keep your plant perky.

With its unique watering system Grobal draws water and nutrients from the Grobal reservoir in to the Grobal Soil, in the top chamber. Check the water level through the water level indicator, and refill when needed through the Nutriport. I just added these in Tangerine to the coffee shop I designed to give it a fresh feel for spring. They are hip and take care of themselves? Who wouldn’t want one? These would be a great addition to a spring tabletop too!
